Question 1:

Please explain the total yearly cost after the first year. The grant pays $400 per computer for the first five years. The grant pays the $200 maintenance per computer the first year. After that first year, $200 per computer must be paid by the school/organization participating in the program. Is my understanding correct? Therefore, after the first year, a school utilizing the minimum of 10 computers would be paying a maintenance fee of $2,000 per year. Is this correct? If not, please explain

Response:

As a hosted solution, meaning there are no servers to purchase, upgrade, manage or update, all application software operates on CSC Learning's (and/or partners) managed servers.  To access these applications, personal computers with the minimum requirements as specified in the grant application must be used.

As such, there are two components to the CLIICS Grant award.  This includes Application Software licensing which allow access to the applications on the managed servers and the Application Software Maintenance/Hosting fees.

Software Licenses:
The CLIICS Grant will award to selected recipients Application Software licenses which are valued at $400 per computer.  Grant recipients will receive this free of charge for the number of computers approved in their proposal.

Example:  If a grant is awarded for 10 computers, the grant software value equals $4,000.00 (10 Computers * $400.00 per license).

Application Software Maintenance/Hosting Fee:

The CLIICS grant will also award one year of Application Software Maintenance/Hosting which has a value of $200 per computer, per year.  This fee allows for software maintenance updates and hosting of the applications on CSC Learnings managed servers.  The grant includes 1 year of Application Software Maintenance/Hosting Fee.  After the first year, it is charged at a rate of $200 per computer/per year.

Example: If a grant is awarded for 10 computers, the grant would provide the first year of Application Software Maintenance & Hosting Fees would provide at no charge.  In year 2, there would be a $2,000 (10 Computers * $200 per year) fee accessed to cover Software Application Maintenance and Hosting fees.
